HDMI® for High Resolution Playback
The TX-NR525 features six HDMI inputs to accept hi-res content from your media players and gaming consoles. HDMI enables Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ surround sound formats, and supports 3D video playback. The single output has an Audio Return Channel, so you can enjoy TV programs with home cinema sound.
Supports 4K Video Content
With 4K televisions, media players, and projectors already on the market, it’s good to know your A/V receiver is fully compatible with this high display resolution technology. Passthrough of native 4K (or four times Full HD) from source devices to an appropriate display is supported on the TX-NR525.
Music Streaming and Internet Radio Services
Use our remote app to send a big range of hi-res, lossless, and compressed formats—including FLAC and Apple Lossless—from NAS and PC to your home cinema. The TX-NR525 comes preloaded with the most popular music streaming and internet radio services, such as Spotify, Last.fm, and TuneIn Radio, which you can browse using the app. You can also stream the songs stored on your iPhone or Android device directly to your receiver for playback.
Note: Availability of streaming services depends on region. Some services may require a firmware update. Availability of third-party services advertised here is accurate at the time of publication, but may be subject to change without notice.
Quick and Easy Remote Control
Our remote apps for iPod touch/iPhone and Android devices offer a convenient way to control your home entertainment from anywhere within wireless range. The app offers a clear graphical interface for controlling playback, adjusting settings, and handling content across multiple zones.
Easy Input Source Selection
We think switching between games, movies, and cable TV should be easy. InstaPrevue™ technology names your devices and displays video thumbnails instead of anonymous port numbers. You can preview connected content from the Input Selection menu, and choose an HDMI source without having to remember what device is connected where.
Overlaid Menus for Quick Adjustments
Touch the Quick Set-Up button on your remote to overlay menus on the program being viewed. From here, you can switch inputs or gain access to frequently used audio/video settings without interruption to your viewing. Similarly, the Home Menu button calls up simple icons for choosing a media source, and menus for accessing detailed system settings.
An Introduction to the Onkyo Sound
Onkyo’s WRAT (Wide Range Amp Technology) enhances audio fidelity across a wide frequency range. It includes low negative-feedback amp topology for clear, true-to-life sound; closed ground-loop circuits to reduce noise; and high instantaneous current capability to effortlessly handle big dynamic gains. WRAT amps feature a discrete output stage for longer life and cooler running.
Good Quality Digital-to-Analog Converter
The TX-NR525 employs a 192 kHz/24-bit TI Burr-Brown DAC for excellent dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter, which translates as clearer, more expressive sound from your speakers.
Phase-Matching Bass Enhancement
Onkyo’s PM Bass optimizes low frequencies while preserving mid-range clarity. It counters phase shifting (which can negatively affect sound quality) by synchronizing the timing of different frequencies. The result is deep, well-defined bass that won’t blur vocals or strings.
MultEQ calibrates and equalizes your system to optimize the sound for the shape of your room. Measuring six listening positions, MultEQ applies resolution filters to satellites and subwoofers to create a more balanced soundstage.
Audyssey Dynamic EQ®
Dynamic EQ solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at low volume. It selects the best possible frequency response and surround levels moment-by-moment, resulting in an optimal listening experience at any volume.
Audyssey Dynamic Volume®
Audyssey Dynamic Volume® automatically compensates for volume fluctuations in different audio content—for example, during noisy commercial breaks—and adjusts the volume in real time.
Clearer Sound with Direct-Digital USB
The TX-NR525 features two USB ports to connect iPod/iPhone and mass storage devices loaded with music. The connection carries signals to the receiver in digital format, giving a noticeable boost to audio quality.
Ready for the Wireless Home Network
Our optional UWF-1 Wireless LAN Adapter helps you integrate your music life without messy wires. Simply plug it into your network receiver’s front USB port and enjoy reliable wireless access to the local network.
Bluetooth Streaming Technology
With the remarkable aptX® enhancement codec and improved capabilities of Bluetooth Version 3.0, our optional UBT-1 adapter offers wireless sound quality approaching that of CD audio. Simply plug it into a USB port on the TX-NR525 to send audio wirelessly from a wide range of electronic devices.
Hybrid Standby to Save Power
HDMI passthrough and network connectivity are maintained while the receiver is powered down. This facilitates use of your TV and other connected devices without turning on the receiver, saving energy and money. The TX-NR525 is also compliant with the Smart Grid system.
